They have a smooth drum like a smooth drum compactor, but also have flat extensions named "pad feet" that protrude from the drum. The pad feet press into the soil, creating pockets for air and water to escape and promoting deeper compaction. This compactor has a yellow exterior with black tracks, a large steel drum, and pad feet. The text "SD77F" is also visible on the side of the compactor.
